Walter Valentine Town Forest
This property was donated by Walter and Dana Valentine. Walt grew up on Greenville Road in Mason in the house he and his father Cedric Valentine built. Walt spent his adult years in the Washington D.C. area but always loved Mason and decided to donate this parcel of land to the town.

The Walter Valentine Town Forest is situated between Wilton Road and Greenville Road in Mason. It consists of four trails. This trail system is connected to the "Potter North" trail system via the Crathern Connector off Dana's Trail. One could hike from Wilton Road through the Walter Valentine Forest cross Greenville Road, through the Potter North trails to the trail head across from Pratt Pond Road. Quite a nice, long hike for Mason.
The Water Valentine Town Forest Trail System consists of four trails:
-
Walt's Trail - named after Walter Valentine who donated the property
-
Dana's Trail - named after Walt's wife.
-
Cedric's Trail - named after Walt's dad. Cedric lived to be 102 years old, was a selectman in town, coached an olympic rowing team and was quite a story teller.
-
Porcupine Trail - named for the giant rocks, and caves where porcupines live on the property.
PARKING - Access to these trails can be had along Wilton Road about a mile from the center of town. One will see a green "Tree Forest" sign on the left-hand side of Wilton road.
