Florence Roberts

Florence Roberts was a conservationist, nature lover and member of the Mason Conservation Commission for 35 years. She donated the 39 acre forest on Valley Road at the southern entrance to town.

The Florence Roberts Forest is approximately 38 acres just south of the center of the town of Mason off Valley road.  It is easily accessible and and has a kiosk with a trail map to identity the trails.

There are two main trails in this system and one small bypass trail that is unnamed at this writing. The trails are:

  • Boy Scout Trail - since the Boy Scout troupe in Mason at the time cut the trail, they named it after themselves.

  • Pony Loop Trail - the Messer family in town rode their horses on this property and cut the trail and named after their ponies.

  • Bypass trail - for lack of a better name this trail bypasses a very wet area on the trail system on the Boy Scout Trail.

PARKING - Access to these trails is along Valley Road (NH state Rt 123) just south of town.  There is a kiosk on the left-hand side of the road as one travels south on Valley road, less than a mile from the center of town.
